WHAT / Gorjue was created by a woman to blend her love of beauty and food. It’s such a fun and off-the-wall concept that we had to be a part of it!

WHY / Maesa is amazing. She spent her whole life towards a medical career, and then quit her gig to give her passion a real chance. The product is amazing (even the packaging in shipping), the company is ethical and woman-owned, and their whole aesthetic is bomb!

HOW / Thanks so much Maesa and the team! We shot the lipsticks in Austin and Portland.

Client: Atticus Hotel, Oregon

Concept, creative direction, video, photos, HMUA by Union

WHAT / The Atticus Hotel is a woman-owned business (Erin freaking moved the furniture in herself for the rooms??) and is now one of the best-respected boutique hotels in the country: USA Today's #1 wine country hotel, among other accolades. Our package for The Atticus is part of our Teeny Tiny Economy Reboot Program. They hired us to showcase their space, and really let us have a lot of runway! Absolutely a dream to work with this team.

WHY / A business that's promoting local artists, food, drinks, and a safe space for diverse and LGBTQ+ people to feel at home away from home. It's good to know there's a vetted place like this! We vetted it! An ally :) If you're looking for a super clean, Covid-friendly getaway with literally food, bar, shopping--everything you need in one building...it's a good spot! Reduce that germ exposure babyyyy.

HOW / Thanks so much Erin, Chelsey and the whole staff and team--you guys are amazing! And most importantly, happy anniversary Karina and Joe!

WHAT / Bob’s Backpacks is a company started by Gabi, an artist from Brazil who moved to Philly to pursue her dreams of turning her art into wearables.

WHY / She has a small team and her entire business is close-knit and ethical, though dispersed worldwide. She brings abstract designs with a global vibe and we love it.

HOW / To be Covid-conscious, Gabi mailed us an amazing bag! We spent a few hours shooting in Oregon HQ at The Bindery @binderyevents.

WHAT / The Bindery is an event space in Oregon wine country. Chelsey’s family owned the building, where the local newspaper was written for decades. She asked us to cover video and HMUA for a bridal shoot. We said yes, duh.

WHY / It’s a modern location with a fresh vibe, lots of light, a full catering kitchen, bridal suite. Chelsey built this idea out of nowhere and the adaptability of the space is great :) The dresses are sustainable, because AandBe Portland is an awesome second-hand wedding vendor in a pretty wasteful industry. We dig their vibes, and a team of women is always a good idea!

HOW / We spent a day shooting at The Bindery @binderyevents.

Client: Flag & Wire Coffee x Atticus Hotel, Oregon

Concept, creative direction, video, photos, HMUA by Union

WHAT / Flag and Wire coffee is a PNW favorite, especially out in Oregon wine country. Roasted in McMinnville, home of the Spruce Goose, the small but efficient team works insanely hard and their attention to detail is next-level. Nick and his wife Kim started the company together, and we were sold by just this about Nick on their website: “Nick fell pretty far down the rabbit hole and in due course he became a board member of a vermicomposting periodical called "Worm Digest". This is not a joke. Nick loves compost--and he loves vermicompost even more. Nick is a little bit of a serial hobbyist… So his interests are widely varied. Coffee obviously ranks highly--it's a broad and fascinating global industry with a never-ending series of things to learn about.” He radiates this passion and it’s not for show—a refreshing pair with a real love of their work.

The Atticus Hotel is a woman-owned business (Erin freaking moved the furniture in herself for the rooms??) and is now one of the best-respected boutique hotels in the country: USA Today's #1 wine country hotel, among other accolades.

Our package for Flag and Wire and The Atticus is part of our Teeny Tiny Economy Reboot Program. They hired us to showcase their relationship, from roasting the beans to guests enjoying their French press in their rooms at the hotel.

WHY / Cross-promoting independent businesses only strengthens the local economy and community. This seemed like the perfect pairing :)

HOW / We shot for a day at Flag and Wire after a series of promos for The Atticus. Combine the two; et voila!
